Good morning,
AI is starting to change who controls the internet, how we get things done, and what happens when machines start acting on our behalf. This week, some familiar rules are beginning to shift. Here’s what caught our attention.
In today’s Noted:
  • Reddit is closing the door on AI bots
  • You can now text an AI to order dinner
  • AI companies are now fighting model theft
  • Google has a new Gemini built for harder work
  • Dots are AI agents that don’t wait for you
REDDIT
this one’s big →

Reddit is closing the door on AI bots

We noted:
Reddit is shutting down RSS feeds and restricting public API access, cutting off some of the easiest ways for automated systems to collect its content. The company is moving toward tighter control of how its discussions can be accessed and used by AI companies.
  • RSS feeds are being discontinued
  • Public API access is being restricted
  • AI companies will increasingly need formal agreements to access Reddit’s data

Why it matters

The open web was built around information being easy to access. AI is challenging that model. As valuable human-generated content becomes training material, more platforms are deciding that access should come with a price tag.

DOORDASH
sneaky useful →

You can now text an AI to order dinner

We noted:
DoorDash launched an AI agent that lets customers order food through a text conversation. Instead of opening an app, searching menus, and building a cart, users can describe what they want and let the agent handle the order.
  • Orders can be placed through natural conversation
  • The agent handles the shopping flow for the user
  • DoorDash joins the growing race toward AI-powered transactions

Why it matters

AI assistants are moving from answering questions to actually completing everyday transactions. Shopping, food delivery, travel, and other services are becoming things you can simply ask an agent to do.

OPENAI
Model security →

AI companies are now fighting model theft

We noted:
OpenAI says it disrupted a coordinated attempt to extract capabilities from its models through systematic querying and model distillation. The campaign involved using models in ways designed to reproduce protected capabilities.
  • The attacks involved repeated model queries
  • The goal was to extract useful capabilities from proprietary systems
  • OpenAI says it disrupted the activity and reported the findings

Why it matters

As models become more valuable, copying their behavior becomes a security problem of its own. AI labs now have to protect not just their servers and code, but the behavior of the models themselves.

GOOGLE

Google has a new Gemini built for harder work

We noted:
Google launched Gemini 4 Argon, which it describes as its most capable Gemini model yet, with a focus on demanding tasks including coding and cybersecurity.
  • Google is targeting advanced reasoning and technical work
  • Coding is a major focus
  • The model adds another contender to the race for increasingly capable AI agents

Why it matters

For businesses, model choice may soon look less like choosing a chatbot and more like choosing an employee’s specialist skill set. “Who can reliably do difficult work?”

OPENAI

Dots are AI agents that don’t wait for you

We noted:
OpenAI introduced Dots, 24/7 always-on agents designed to take on tasks autonomously and connect with other apps and services. The idea is less “ask AI a question” and more “give AI a job.”
  • Dots are designed to keep working beyond a single conversation
  • They can connect to external apps
  • Multiple agents could eventually work together on different responsibilities

Why it matters

This brings everyone closer to AI that doesn’t just respond when you open a chat but keeps track of work and acts on your behalf.

P.S. That’s enough internet for today. Probably.
